Lyrics
They got tired of the Charleston
Tired of the Lindy too
Tired of the Shag and the Varsity Drag
What to do, what to do, what to do, what to do, what to do
What to do
They had to have something new
A dance to do up there in Harlem
So someone started Truckin'
As soon as the news got 'round
The folks downtown came up to Harlem
Someone got the notion to develop a dance called Truckin'
It didn't take long
Before the high hats were doin' it, Park Avenuein' it
All over town
See them Truckin' on down
It spread like a forest blaze
Became a craze and thanks to Harlem
Now everybody's Truckin'
They got tired of the Charleston
Tired of the Suzie Q
Tired of the Shag and the Varsity Drag
They had to have something new
A dance they could do up there in Harlem
So someone started Truckin'
As soon as the news got 'round
The people downtown came up to Harlem
So everybody Truckin'
It spread like a forest blaze
Became a craze and thanks to Harlem
Now everybody's Truckin'
Everybody's Truckin'
Everybody
Everybody
Everybody
Everybody
Everybody
Truckin'
