Somehow we thought this was just about us, not about you
Got so distract, we just thought about us, not about you
We should have known (but instead) we did what we said we'd never do
We forgot about you
We forgot to calm your fears (we forgot to feel your pain)
We forgot to notice you around, there's too much stress and strain
I don't know quite how
But we forgot that you come first no matter what
We forgot to say how much we love you
And that we always will
'Til mountains fall and fade away
And all the stars turn cold and gray
I wish there was a way back to the way it was before
But family still not grow in one straight line
And since we can't just stay back, well, it's time to close that door
Don't be scared, we'll be fine
I know now we can't go back, and then things will have to change
We'll figure out, the three of us, just how
We would get that same glow back
And at first it might feel strange
But I love you, you love me
Evermore, endlessly
Yes, that will be the way it was before
