Rise

The lyrics portray a close bond between two people who seem to share strength and identity. The speaker addresses someone who faces opposition but continues to rise. The mood is encouraging and defiant: it begins with images of connection and danger, then returns repeatedly to the idea that the person can keep going despite the world being against them.

Several images make this encouragement vivid. Calling one person the “sun” and the speaker the “flame” suggests that they are linked sources of warmth or energy. “Wings upon your back” is a metaphor for freedom and the ability to overcome limits. The repeated claim that they are “not chained to the wheel” suggests refusing to be trapped in a cycle or controlled by outside forces. The snake that “bites on your veins” gives opposition a threatening, poisonous quality, though it is not explained exactly who or what the snake represents.

The song may be about a specific relationship, but the lyrics leave its nature open: it could be romantic, spiritual, or a bond between people facing hardship together. The addressed person is described as both frightening and inspiring, and as someone others disbelieve. This makes their rise feel like an act of resilience and self-belief, rather than a simple promise that every problem will disappear.
