Old summer reckoning
Long gray shadows bring you home again
I keep you in mind
I keep you in mind
Every year around this time
ย
Tired heat hangin'
On worn out leaves
But still they're bending down over me
It weighs on the trees
Who buckle and creak
The hours movin' thick as thieves
ย
Old summer reckoning
Long gray shadows bring you home again
I keep you in mind
I keep you in mind
Every year around this time
ย
Tired eyes sleepin' on a wind swept page
Dreaming as the story tries to fly away
Lost too much time
I'm lost all the time
Re-reading the linะตs
Re-reading the past
Rะต-reading the last few lines
I left you as the summer brought down that day
Baffled in the sun
You turned hard as clay
Day after day
Come wind and come rain
I pray that you are swept away
