Lyrics
My great granddaddy made this fiddle
Whittled it out of a maple tree
Strung it up with a mountain lion
And he sent it on down the line to me
He harried his bow with a stallion tail
Made out of a chestnut rail
With a rattlesnake rattle rattlin' around
In an old hillbilly hand-me-down
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
Ain't nothin' like that old-time sound
Made many a square dance go around
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
It's gents to the middle and do-si-do
Tap your toes to the rockin' of the bow
Elbows sawin' up and down
On an old hillbilly hand-me-down
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
Ain't nothin' like that old-time sound
Made many a square dance go around
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
This old fiddle is an old heirloom
Been in the family since the crack of doom
I was lost until I found
This old hillbilly hand-me-down
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
Ain't nothin' like that old-time sound
Made many a square dance go around
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
It's an old hillbilly hand-me-down
Just an old hillbilly hand-me-down
