Lyrics
What shall this little baby
To rest on Mary's lap be sleeping?
To angels it will lend
A sweet one shall it not a-keep?
Lo, this, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing
Hail, hail to three
In honor, King of Son of Mary
Why lies he in such mean estate
Where ox and ass are feeding?
Good Christians, fear not, seek
In the silent birth his meaning
Lo, this, this is Christ the King
Whom crowds the streets for to hear the hymn
O hear, O hear the burning flesh
The tears of Son of Mary
Solemnly will this good and welcome
Pass the kindred all
The King of kings the virgin brings
Let loving hearts enthrone him
Red, oh red, the Son of God
The virgin sings the lullaby
O joy, O joy for Christ is born
The babe, the Son of Mary
O joy, O joy for Christ is born
The babe, the Son of Mary
Christ, the Son of Mary
