I see the plastic faces
That you always seem to wear
Just sitting here on Sunday
And no one seems to care
And you do your acts of righteousness
To be seen on the eve I'm in
You're clean upon the outside
But you're dirty deep within
And the man of different color
He comes walking through your doors
And you judge him by his appearance
Criticize him, nothing more
But how can you clearly see him
When the log is in your eye?
Believing the life of a fantasy
Your life is a total lie
And you're causing men to stumble
Yes, you're getting in their way
'Cause your life, it never changes
It's the same, day after day
Let your heart be your mirror
To see what kind of man you really are
So, when I ask you how you're doing
You say, "oh, I'm very fine"
But you know you're only hurting
You're aching deep inside
And you're coming to God's temple
With hatred in your heart
And you lay your gift at the altar
Singing, "lord how great thou art"
And you lift your hands up to the sky
To praise his holy name
Yet your heart is so far from him
Why do you play the game?
And you're like the man who waivers
Yes, you're tossed upon the sea
And your life is so inconsistent
They call it "hypocrisy"
And you're causing men to stumble
Yes, you're getting in their way
'Cause your life, it never changes
It's the same, day after day
Let your heart be your mirror
To see what kind of man you really are
And you call the man a drunkard
When he drinks a glass of wine
How about your overeating
Can that be justified?
Now you can put your scriptures
But they come right back at you
You need to practice what you're preaching
That's what you need to do
And you're causing me to stumble
Yes, you're getting in my way
'Cause your life, it never changes
It's the same, day after day
Let your heart be your mirror
To see what kind of man you really are
To see what kind of man you really are
To see what kind of man you really are
