Lyrics meaning
The lyrics present Slimane, a fifteen-year-old who describes himself as tough, reckless, and indifferent to whether he lives or dies. He talks about fighting, stealing, and taking dangerous risks, but also about poverty, exclusion, and having few ways to imagine a better future. His repeated claim that he has “nothing to gain” sounds like bravado, yet it also suggests deep despair. Music with his friends briefly offers another possibility, but that hope collapses too.
Several images show how he tries to build an identity. The snake tattoo and his place in the gang project toughness; his attraction to “what is broken” turns damage and danger into something he can claim as his own. Near the end, he wears a keffiyeh and imagines distant “brothers” who share his suffering. These gestures seem to offer belonging, though he admits he may feel like a stranger even in the country he associates with them.
The song can be read as a portrait of a young person who feels shut out and performs defiance to hide vulnerability. His crude jokes and violent language may make him sound self-assured, but they also expose how bleak his world feels. The lyrics do not reduce him to a single explanation: he is both responsible for harmful acts and shaped by circumstances that leave him feeling unseen and without a place.
