The lyrics celebrate a “Sociedade Alternativa,” or alternative society, where people are free to choose how they live. The repeated cries of “Viva” sound like a public chant, giving the song a joyful, rebellious energy. Its emotional movement is less a personal story than a bold declaration: it imagines a new age built around freedom and self-direction.

The playful examples—taking a bath with a hat, waiting for Santa Claus, or discussing a singer—suggest that even unusual or ordinary choices should not be controlled by others. “Every man and every woman is a star” presents each person as distinctive and worthy of freedom. The repeated phrase “do what you want” is framed as a law, turning personal choice into the central rule of this imagined society.

The song also names Aleister Crowley, Thelema, and “the law of the strong,” connecting its message to a specific philosophy of will and power. That makes the freedom it celebrates open to more than one interpretation: it may sound like a call for personal independence, but “the law of the strong” could also raise questions about whose freedom matters most.
