Once upon a time on a dark lovers lane
Had a big jog o whiskey and a full moon to blame
I asked if you could tell me what you were thinkin' of
You didn't even blush when you said hillbilly love
I knew that you weren't jokin' when you started to
proceed
To take the kind of lovin' only hillbillies need
But just about that time came a light from above
The officer spat when he saw hillbilly love
Hillbilly love, it came from the east
It ain't no kinda lovin' for no man or no beast
Hillbilly love, it moved to the west
It's the kinda lovin' that we all love the best
ย
They dragged me down to central, was the worst of my
fears
Stood me right on up in front of 12 of my peers
Judge asked the sheriff what was I accused of
Someone screamed when the sheriff said hillbilly love
Sheriff gave a hand, picked the judge up off the floor
Judge stood on up and said to please tell him more
Sheriff said ain't kidding when push came to shove
he could tell by the smell it was hillbilly love
Hillbilly love, it came from the east
It ain't no kinda lovin' for no man or no beast
Hillbilly love, it moved to the west
It's the kinda lovin' that we all love the best
ย
I prayed to be delivered, I cried and then I wailed
But they gave me my deliverance in the Horton County
jail
I'm hopin' that someday I'll get a pardon from the
Gov,
But until that day comes I'm gettin' hillbilly love
Hillbilly love, it came from the east
It ain't no kinda lovin' for no man or no beast
Hillbilly love, it moved to the west
It's the kinda lovin that we all love the best
