Silhouettes

The lyrics celebrate moving forward and leaving an earlier way of life behind. The speaker describes a group that has changed and grown, now identifying as “the newborn” and “the future.” The repeated promise not to look back gives the song a confident, determined mood, though the focus is more on collective progress than on one person’s story.

A “beaten path” is a familiar route that many have taken; here, it suggests a direction already laid out for the group. “The old school” and “old grounds” represent past habits or traditions, while “new-found” points toward something fresh. A “faded silhouette” is a dim outline of something once visible, so it can suggest a past that is becoming less clear or less important. “We’ve come a long way” means that substantial progress has been made.

The lyrics present change as positive and almost inevitable: the signs were supposedly visible, and the group is ready to keep moving ahead. Still, “we will never look back” might express hope and confidence, not necessarily complete freedom from the past. The silhouette remains part of the image even as it fades, leaving open whether the past is being rejected, remembered from a distance, or simply outgrown.
