Storms In Africa

The lyrics describe a journey through storms and ask how long it has lasted, whether the storm is beginning, and how far it runs from start to finish. The mood feels persistent and searching. The repeated encouragement to lift the heart suggests courage, even as the traveler faces something difficult and seemingly long.

The storm can be understood literally as harsh weather, but it may also represent hardship or uncertainty. Walking through it gives the struggle a sense of steady movement: the traveler is not simply waiting for trouble to pass but continuing onward. The phrases about a “great” and “long” journey make the challenge feel demanding and extended.

The song leaves the destination and the nature of the storm unclear. It could be about a physical journey, an inner struggle, or a broad feeling of endurance. The repeated questions do not provide answers, which may reflect uncertainty rather than despair. At the same time, the call to lift one’s heart offers a note of hope: courage does not remove the storm, but it may help someone keep going through it.
