Lyrics
Bottom of the food chain
When you're working all day in that stinking shed
Ahh, no chance that you won't get a hang
When you're running up and down that board
You're sweating, your face is red
Waiting all day for the sun to go down
Jump in the ute, head into town
Have a couple of beers with the shearers too
It's a damn good job once the day is through
But I love the rousey life
Always on the go, can't be slow
Sweating dust from head to toe
Waiting for the next smoko, that's right
But work is work and that's okay
You have good fun and you earn your pay
But I can't wait for that cut-out Friday night
Well, you can't say it's boring
Always something to do for us shed hands
Starts at 7:30 in the morning
Then all day long it's fleeces, pelly socks, staple and dags
Don't get in the shearer's way
I'm telling you, there'll be hell to pay
You gotta grab that fleece, sweep the boards
Make sure that broom don't hit the floor
But I love the rousey life
Always on the go, can't be slow
Sweating dust from head to toe
Waiting for the next smoko, that's right
But work is work and that's okay
You have good fun and you earn your pay
But I can't wait for that cut-out Friday night
Take it away, boys!
Standing around, skirting
While that khaki's watching like a hawk
And that presser taste flirting
Well, that boy's so fine
It's hard to keep your mind on the job
But I love the rousey life
Always on the go, can't be slow
Sweating dust from head to toe
Waiting for the next smoko, that's right
But work is work and that's okay
You have good fun and you earn your pay
But I can't wait for that cut-out Friday night
Yeah, work is work and that's okay
You have good fun and you earn your pay
But I can't wait for that cut-out Friday night
