Step on step, foot by foot
We walk, that's how we know
Through the heather and the mud
The plateau ringing through our blood
ย
Line on line, and hunkered down
This wild and weathered place
Where life remains against the odds
Tread careful as we step in time
ย
Freedom off the well trod path
Against the rivers flow
These dizzy heights release me
And bring me home
ย
Set me free
Set me free
ย
Lets disregard what's written down
And follow our own feet
Learn to read the mountain signs
Of corries, bens and contour lines
ย
Step on step, foot by foot
We walk, that's how we know
Through the heather and the mud
The plateau ringing through our blood
