Stoned Raiders

The lyrics present a speaker who is forceful, confident, and closely identified with Cypress Hill’s music and streetwise image. The repeated “Cypress groove” works like a chant, keeping the energy high. The mood shifts between celebration—especially around music and marijuana—and threats toward people the speaker sees as enemies. The result is boastful and confrontational rather than reflective.

Several expressions are figurative or slang-heavy. “One nation under a groove” playfully echoes the idea of a nation united, but here music is what brings people together. “Get your fix” usually means getting something one feels a strong need for; in this context, it means enjoying the group’s distinctive funk. “Stoned Raider” combines being high with the image of a tough attacker, turning the song’s title into a persona. The recurring invitation to raise a “spliff” refers to holding up a marijuana cigarette.

The lyrics mix playful musical language with aggressive talk, so not every line needs to be read as a literal account of events. The speaker may be exaggerating toughness as part of a performance, while the references to conflict also create a real sense of danger. The song’s repeated groove offers a shared celebration, but that communal feeling sits uneasily beside its threats.
