Forever Young

The lyrics express a speaker’s loving wishes for someone setting out into life. The speaker hopes this person will find happiness, act with courage and kindness, and make their own choices. “Forever young” need not mean literally staying young. It can express a wish that the person keep their spirit, goodness, and possibility as they grow older. The song also leaves the speaker’s role open: “I’m right behind you” could mean practical support, emotional loyalty, or simply a promise of lasting love. The lyrics sound like both a blessing for independence and a tender acknowledgment that letting someone go can be difficult.
