Well, it was windy, it was cold
I was about 14 years old
When I first got the wolf-man howl
There's whiskey on the floor
And he sneaked me through the door
And the cops, they were on the prowl
It seems so long ago
I'm living on the highway now
He was a giant of a man
He always understands
The very best notes to use
His hands make two of mine
And his heart, it beat right on time
He taught me how to sing the blues
It seems so long ago
And I'm living on the highway now
ย
I played the blues with Walter, and Muddy pulled me through
I know a Jimmy Rogers song or two
There's one thing that I know
That no matter where I go
I can do a little howling too, yeah
That's a rhythm I use
Living on the highway now
The years have come and gone, but the blues still carry on
Taken all my beatest heart
But if you ask me to
Then I'll play blues for you
'Cause the women like to hear me howl
Me and my guitar, my band
Living on the highway now
That's better, boy
Oh, yeah
I'd rather go to your funeral any day
Than you go to mine, oh no
Living on the highway now
Me and my guitar, my band
Living on the highway now
Hey, put that thing down, boy
That's better...
