Lyrics
Death row inmate believes that she is God
Voices that she hears would never steer her wrong
No medication can dull that circus in her mind
No medication can help her understand her crime
Well, death row inmate, long by noon
Tried to kill God with a plastic spoon
They placed her in cuffs in a padded room
Took away her books and gave her some paper shoes
Well, put her in the infirmary and kept the door shut
Sprayed her with a hose and she began to shout
Doctor came with a noose and tied her to a chair
'Cause she thought she was dyin' and she pulled out all her hair
In the dayroom one morning she's numb with all the meds
Sittin' with the inmates droolin' all over that jellybread
Quick sounds sound tunes on a piano near the wall
So the nurse takes off the cuffs so Ellen can reach 'em all
Knock her in the wall, start yellin' in the yard
Well, Ellen kills two inmates and ends up in the morgue
No one wondered much about the voices in her head
No one wondered if they still spoke after they killed her dead
Death row inmate believes that she is God
Voices that she hears would never steer her wrong
No medication can dull that circus in her mind
No medication can help her understand her crime
