Lifted

The lyrics describe a speaker who wants to escape emotional pain but soon misses someone who brings hope. The mood moves between darkness and renewed confidence: difficulties return, yet the speaker believes that the two people can face them and begin again. Their closeness seems to offer comfort rather than a promise that life will always be easy.

Rain stands for hardship or sadness, while a “ray of hope” suggests a small sign that better times may come. Being “lifted from the shadows” imagines rising out of a low, troubled state; the bright space above the clouds gives this feeling a sense of peace and clarity. “Brought back down to solid ground” contrasts that hopeful escape with the return of ordinary problems.
