Lyrics
When they were but few in number
And when they went about from nation to nation
He suffered no man to do them wrong
Yea, for their sake he reproved thee
Touch not mine anointed ones
And do my prophets no harm
Israel came in from Egypt
And God increased his people greatly
And made their enemies mighty for their cause
He turned Egypt's heart to hate his people
He sent Moses his servant
And Aaron whom he had chosen
For he remembered his holy word
Unto Abraham his servant
And they wrought among the Egyptians
And they wrought among the Egyptians
His manifold signs and wonders
Signs and wonders
And they wrought among the Egyptians
His signs, his signs and wonders
Now there arose a new king over Egypt
And he said unto his people
Behold, the people of the children of Israel
Are too many and too mighty for us
Therefore he did set over them taskmasters
To afflict them with their burdens
But the more he afflicted them
The more they multiplied
And the more they spread abroad
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying
Every son that is born of Israel
He shall cast into the river
And every daughter he shall save alive
But one woman of Israel
Hid her son three months
And when she could no longer hide him
She took for him an ark of bulrushes
And she put the child therein
And laid it in the river
And the daughter of Pharaoh came down
To bathe in the river
And she saw the ark, and she opened it
And saw the child
And she had compassion on him
And he became her son
And she called his name Moses
And it came to pass in those days
When Moses was grown up
That he went out unto his brethren
And he looked on their burden
And he saw an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew
And he looked this way and that way
And when he saw that there was no man about
He smote the Egyptian and hid him in the sand
Now when Pharaoh heard this thing
He sought to slay Moses
But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh
And dwelt in the land of Midian
And the Lord called unto Moses
Out of the midst of a flame of fire
And said, I am the God of thy fathers
The God of Abraham, the God of Isaac
And the God of Jacob
I have surely seen the affliction of my people
That are in Egypt, and have heard their cry
And I am come down to deliver them
Out of the hands of the Egyptians
I will send thee unto Pharaoh
That thou mayest bring forth my people
The children of Israel out of Egypt
And Moses said unto God
Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel
And shall say unto them
The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you
And they shall say unto me
What is his name?
What shall I say unto them?
And God said unto Moses
I am
And the LORD said, I know that the king
Of Egypt will not give you leave to go
But I will put forth my hand, and smite Egypt with
All my wonders: and after that he will let you go
And Moses went and returned to Jethro his father in law, and
Said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my
Brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive
And Jethro said unto Moses, Go in peace
And Moses and Aaron came and said unto Pharaoh, Thus
Saith the LORD the God of Israel, Let my people go
That they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should
Hearken unto his voice to let Israel go? I know
Not the LORD, and moreover I will not let Israel go
And Moses returned unto the LORD
And said, Why is it thou hast sent me?
For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath dealt
Ill with this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in peace, and I will remember thee
In the sight of Pharaoh to day: and this day shall be a memorial day
For you before Pharaoh, that I have set you free from Pharaoh's hand
And Moses went and returned unto his brethren, and told them all these
Words, and said unto them, Thus saith the LORD, The God of Israel
Let my people go, that they may hold
A feast unto me in the wilderness
And they said unto him, Wherefore goest thou to tell us
This thing? and wherefore goest thou to tell us this word?
And he said unto them, I am sent unto you, and the LORD hath sent me
And Moses went and returned unto Jethro his father in law
And said unto him, Let me go, I pray thee, and return unto my
Brethren that are in Egypt, and see whether they be yet alive
And Jethro said unto Moses, Go in peace
And Moses and Aaron came and said unto Pharaoh, Thus
Saith the LORD the God of Israel, Let my people go
That they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should
Hearken unto his voice to let Israel go? I know
Not the LORD, and moreover I will not let Israel go
And Moses returned unto the LORD
And said, Why is it thou hast sent me?
For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath dealt
Ill with this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all
And Moses and Aaron came again, and said unto Pharaoh
Thus saith the LORD the God of Israel, Let my people go
That they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness
And Pharaoh said, Who is the LORD, that I should
Hearken unto his voice to let Israel go? I know
Not the LORD, and moreover I will not let Israel go
And Moses returned unto the LORD
And said, Why is it thou hast sent me?
For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in thy name, he hath dealt
Ill with this people; neither hast thou delivered thy people at all
And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in peace, and I will remember
Thee in the sight of Pharaoh to day: and this day shall be a
Memorial day for you before Pharaoh, that I have sent you free
And Moses and Aaron came again, and said unto Pharaoh
Thus saith the LORD the God of Israel, Let my people go
That they may hold a feast unto me in the wilderness
I have no help
Set apart among the dead
I'm no slave that lies in the grave
Could thou remember slumber
And they are cut off from thy hand
And the Lord spoke unto Moses saying
I am the Lord
And I appeared unto Abraham
Unto Isaac and unto Jacob as God Almighty
But by my name AdoShem
I made myself not known to them
And I have heard the groaning of the children of Israel
Whom the Egyptians keep in bondage
And I have remembered my covenant
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel
I am the Lord
And I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians
And I will deliver you from their bondage
And I will redeem you with an outstretched arm
And with great judgements
And the Lord spoke unto Moses saying
I will harden Pharaoh's heart
And multiply my signs and wonders in the land of Egypt
But Pharaoh will not hearken unto you
And I will lay my hand upon Egypt
And bring forth my hosts, the children of Israel
Out of the land of Egypt
And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord
And Moses and Aaron went unto Pharaoh
And Aaron cast down his rod as the Lord had commanded
And it became a serpent
Then Pharaoh called for the wise men
And sorcerers and magicians of Egypt
And they cast down every man his rod
And they became serpents also
But Aaron's rod swallowed up their rods
And Pharaoh's heart was hardened
And he hearkened not unto them as the Lord had spoken
Thy boasts of the evil, O mighty man
Thy tongue divides destruction like a sharp razor
Thou lovest evil, O Lord
Thy mouth speaks words of maliciousness
Selah! Selah!
Thou lovest devouring men on deceitful tongues
Thou wilt likewise break them forever
He will take thee up at once
Thee out of the tent
And root thee out of the land of the living
Selah! Selah! Selah!
