Well, I was all broke up and I needed a fix
So I knocked on the door marked 106
Yeah, I knocked on the door of the Hoodoo Queen
At the Congo Square down in New Orleans
When the door swung open and the cobwebs flew
Out of the blue, Miss Depardieu
Made a white cat yell in a great big holler
When she gave me a little pity pill to swallow
Now the voodoo, hoodoo sure feels strange
Sticking like a needle right into my brain
He's on an axis, start to spin
And right about then, the shit kicked in
Sticking like a needle right into my brain
And right about then, the shit kicked in
ย
I saw the mighty tall Indians on parade
Drinking hurricanes and them hand grenades
Now I'm seeing stars and fleur-de-lis
Jaybird naked in a live oak tree
Then I skipped on down to Plaquemines Parish
For some รฉtouffรฉe, oysters, shrimp, and crawfish
The police there don't seem to mind
The old crow tripping on a trolley line
Now the voodoo, hoodoo sure feels strange
Sticking like a needle right into my brain
I was almost home with a mojo hand
But right about then, the shit kicked in
Sticking like a needle right into my brain
Right about then, the shit kicks in
ย
I had to pick myself right up real quick
So I went looking for the woman at 106
But lo and behold, in the very same spot
Was a Popeyes chicken and a Po'Boys shop
Well, I'm a back home now from New Orleans
But the voodoo queen left a spell on me
And every year when Mardi Gras comes again
Right about then, the shit kicks in
Now the voodoo, hoodoo sure feels strange
Sticking like a needle right into my brain
I feel I'm back in old Louisian'
And right about then, the shit kicks in
Oh, sticking like a needle right into my brain
Yes, right about then, the shit kicks in
