Ah
Dane, let me see these people one more time
Alright, alright
I wanna say something
Dane, you have those slides ready?
Okay, I'm gonna put something up there
So, Salt Lake was not always a great market for me
Uh, I don't know how many years ago
But my first show in Salt Lake, I played the Kilby Court, opening for Matt Wertz
That's, so, as you can see, that's me, it's a garage
Now, I don't know what I'm wearing
There was probably 35 people there
The two people in the front are my sisters
Dane, next slide, there
Now, listen
If you had told me we would sell out the Delta Center
Any time in our lifetime, I would not have believed you
And here we are
Alright, alright, alright
I'm gonna try not to do that too much
On with the show
So, when I started going to concerts
Thank you, David
I loved, I loved the music, but it bothered me because I always knew about the singer
But I looked at the band, and I was like, "Who are these people? They seem so talented and cool"
And I didn't know anything about them
And it bothered me that at the very end of the show
The singer was like, "We got Biff on bass and we got Dave on drums"
And I was just like, "That doesn't help me at all
Is this person a nice person? What are they into?"
But I realized, I'm in charge of tonight
And I can change that experience for us right now
So what, what we like to do at our concerts is introduce the band at the beginning of the show
So, ladies and gentlemen, let's meet the band
Alright, Jared, let's bring it down
Ian, tell us about yourself
Hi, guys, my name is Ian
Yeah!
I grew up in a little town called Kalispell, Montana
Alright
And I was about this tall in the seventh grade
So naturally, basketball coach was like, "You!"
And I was like, "Me?"
And he was like, "Yes"
And so I got into playing basketball
But the problem was, I was terrible at it
But there was a game, my whole family came
Aunts and uncles and mom and dad, little sister, all in the stands
And I found my moment, I got the ball, which was rare
And I posted up and took a shot and missed
But I got the rebound and I was like, "Redemption! Second chance!"
I shoot a second time, I miss
It's kind of like, this roar from the crowd, I think they're cheering me on
And I get the rebound like the last time, and I'm like, "That was kinda easy to get"
I take a third shot, I miss again
A player from the other team grabs it
Lays it into the basket I was shooting at and was like, "Thanks"
I had been shooting three times at the wrong basket
I look up, my whole family is head in hands, like this
Mom said afterwards, "Do you wanna keep doing this?"
I said, "No"
She said, "What do you wanna do?"
I said, "Could I try the bass?"
And that's why I'm up here right now playing for you guys
Thank you so much
Give it up for Ian, everybody!
Let's bring it down
Jared, you're next
This is tricky to do with one hand
Good day, guys!
Salt Lake City
My name's Jared, I'm from a small beach-side town called Sydney, Australia
Alright
A few fans out there
Grew up playing a lot of rugby, lot of cricket, lot of surfing, eating great seafood
We don't quite have the mountains you guys do, but, uh, beautiful coastline
I moved to America about 15 years ago, chasing a dream
And here we are tonight, just living that dream
Another fun fact about me, it's my birthday tomorrow
Feels good to be 34 again
Give it up for Jared, everybody!
Alright, let's bring it down
Dane, bring lights up just a little bit
Show of hands, who knows who this is?
Alright, for anybody that doesn't, I'll give you the quick synopsis about David
David, yeah, they know
David, a few years ago, posted an Instagramยฎ video, tagged me in it
It was him playing saxophone to one of my songs that didn't have saxophone on it
I messaged him, I was like, "Man, this is great"
He was like, "Thanks so much!"
And I was like, "Alright, take it easy"
And then, a couple years later, I made a record called "Joy of Music"
That had a bunch of saxophone in it
And I started realizing, I was like, "I need a sax player"
So I messaged him back, said, "David, would you be interested in coming on the road with me?"
And he said, "Yes"
And then he messaged me back a couple hours later
He said, "There's something you should know about me, though"
And I was like, "Okay, what is this?"
He said, "I'm in college still, college student"'
I said, "Is that gonna be a problem for the tour?"
And he said, "No"
Just give us one fun fact about yourself
Hello, everybody, I'm David
I grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota
Currently reside in Lincoln, Nebraska, go Cornhuskers
Go Cougars, go Utes, also to all those observing
One fun fact about myself
I am a full-time software engineer with a masters in computer science
But this is so much more fun than that
So, thank you for having us out
We are loving it up here, and we hope you love it too
Thank you
Give it up for David, everybody!
Alright, Austin, last but not least
Guys, Austin just got engaged, give 'em up for that
What is up, Salt Lake?
Already, already one of my favorite shows
It's been, I feel like I could dunk on a 12-foot rim, I'm so fired up right now
Uh, fun fact, I'm from Cincinnati, Ohio, go Buckeyes, if anyone out here likes winners
I live in Nashville now, and, uh, so excited to be here
Just hanging out with these guys, being with you guys
Thank you so much
So, if at any point, someone in the band does something cool
Cheer for them by name
They're more talented than I am, they're wonderful guys
And I hope you take ownership of them and the band
Ladies and gentlemen, that's the band, give it up
