Year Of Decision

The song is an energetic appeal to make an important choice and stop holding back. It urges listeners to become more open-minded and take steps toward what they need. Its mood is encouraging and urgent: the repeated claim that “this is the year” makes the present feel like a chance to change. The message is also collective, since success is presented as something that depends on everyone, not just one person.

“Get it together” is an informal way to say become organized or take control of your life. “Open up your mind” suggests being willing to consider new ideas or possibilities. The line about leaving “the bad stuff” alone, especially after mentioning being “strung out on a Jones,” may refer to resisting an addictive habit or a powerful craving; the exact meaning is not fully explained. Comparing the group to soldiers in an army suggests unity and shared purpose, rather than literal military action.

The song combines personal responsibility with a call to join others. It says the choice is up to each listener, but also asks everyone to work toward common success. The reference to people who died to set listeners free adds moral urgency, though the lyrics do not explain who these people were or what freedom means here. The song may be heard as a broad call for self-improvement and solidarity, with room for listeners to connect it to their own struggles.
