Lyrics
And now we bring to the microphone and out on the stage here at
The Pythian Temple this evening for this east coast jazz concert
A person that really has every right to be here not only on the east
Coast but the west coast and he's also played in Minneapolis too
This is a man although I don't have documentary proof they
Tell me that a Frenchman by the name of Sax invented the
Instrument but I run a program called the 25 cent program
And that's my budget and everybody that I've asked who
Invented the tenor saxophone they tell me Coleman Hawkins
How many times have you said anything on the microphone Col?
Not too many
Well why don't you say a word or two you know I'm
Sure you prepared a few pages didn't you tonight?
Thank you
Listen will you do me a favor before we go on with the next number?
When you're limbering up the saxophone and there's nobody around
It's just an empty room and you're sitting on the edge of the bed
Looking out the window playing a few things thinking about nothing in
Particular uh making a few runs on the saxophone would you do that?
Oh just make the runs?
Here sit right down here alright here sit right down I'm
Gonna show you something I want you to hear the tone of
This saxophone with nothing else just Coleman Hawkins
