Super Bad

The lyrics present a speaker full of energy and confidence, celebrating a feeling he calls having “soul.” He enjoys moving, performing, and doing his own thing, and he does not seem to need anyone else’s approval. The repeated declaration that he is “super bad” sounds less like an admission of wrongdoing than a bold claim of being exceptionally good, powerful, or impressive. The mood stays playful and exuberant, with calls to dance and join in.

Several phrases convey this excitement indirectly. “Makes me wanna shout” suggests that the feeling is so strong it bursts out as a cry. “I jump back, I wanna kiss myself” is a humorous way to express intense self-satisfaction. The movement “up and down and round and round” evokes dancing, while “let it all hang out” means to relax, show your feelings, and enjoy yourself without holding back.

The song’s meaning is deliberately broad: “soul” may refer to inner spirit, personal style, musical feeling, or some combination of these. The speaker says that a “move” tells him what to do, but the lyrics do not explain exactly what that move is; it could be a dance, a musical impulse, or a general sense of instinct. The repeated invitations to the audience make the confidence feel shared, not only personal. The lyrics emphasize feeling and performance more than a specific story.
