Light It Up

The lyrics move between struggle and celebration. They describe people living with danger and uncertainty while still pursuing their dreams. The repeated calls to dance and “light it up” turn the song toward shared energy: even when life feels difficult, people can gather, move, and express themselves freely.

Images of a “bridge” that might “cave in” suggest that the hopes or plans connecting people to a better future feel fragile. Calling someone “flame to the fire” presents them as a source of energy and strength, while “light it up” can mean both making a place brighter and becoming more confident or visible. “Mash it up” and “hot step” are dance-floor expressions: they encourage energetic dancing, rather than describing a literal act of destruction or walking.

The song can be heard as a celebration of resilience and collective spirit, but it also leaves room for a more personal reading. Waiting for a “messiah” suggests hope for rescue or change, yet the speaker says they will rise up in the meantime. The lyrics do not explain exactly what the conflict or dreams are, so the dance may be an escape from hardship, a way to face it, or both.
