Angel

The speaker describes being overwhelmed by an experience of love that feels almost spiritual. At first, they feel weak and confused, losing control of their body and words. Gradually, the experience brings a sense of freedom, wonder, and calm. The repeated wish to remain there suggests that this peace feels precious and hard to find.

Several images make the experience seem both physical and sacred. The speaker crawls and slithers, suggesting vulnerability or a loss of ordinary self-control. Speaking “a strange kind of language” implies feelings so intense that normal words cannot express them. Later, water and drowning evoke religious cleansing or baptism, while also suggesting surrender—being completely immersed in the experience.

The lyrics leave the nature of this experience open. It could be romantic love, a spiritual encounter, or an intense emotional state described through religious imagery. The speaker calls it peaceful and cleansing, but also describes weakness, confusion, and drowning, so the experience may be unsettling as well as comforting. The final wish to sleep forever could mean wanting to preserve this peace, though it carries a darker ambiguity.
