Empty Arms

The speaker is ending a relationship after feeling worn down and taken for granted. He says he will leave in the morning and will not return. His tone is hurt and angry, but also firm: he believes his partner did not value him until her other relationship ended, and now he is choosing to walk away.

“Run me ragged” means to exhaust or wear someone out, suggesting the relationship has drained him emotionally. “Tricks and charms” implies attempts to persuade or win him back, perhaps through playful behavior or promises; the speaker expects these efforts but says they will not change his decision. “Empty arms” is an image of being left without a partner or affection, and points to the loneliness he predicts for the person who rejected him.
