Avalon

The lyrics move from exhaustion after a party to sudden energy and attraction. The speaker is tired, then notices someone appear unexpectedly. Music and dancing seem to draw the two together, even though they do not speak. The mood becomes more dreamlike and absorbed as the surroundings fade and the speaker loses a clear sense of where things are going.

“Out of nowhere” means unexpectedly, and its repetition makes the encounter feel sudden and almost unreal. “The background’s fading / out of focus” suggests that everything except the person or the dancing becomes less important, like a blurred picture. The changing picture and unknown destination may also suggest being carried along by the moment rather than making a deliberate choice.

“Avalon” is repeated like a refrain, but the lyrics do not explain exactly what it means here. It could name an imagined place or stand for a private, ideal feeling created by the music. The samba and bossa nova references give the scene a dance-centered atmosphere, but the song does not spell out a story about the people involved. Their connection may be romantic, playful, or simply a brief shared experience. The uncertainty about the destination leaves the ending open: the speaker seems willing to dance without knowing where the night will lead.
