The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes, ooh
And the moon and the stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark, and the endless skies, my love
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth
I felt the earth, I felt the earth move in my hand
It just moved in my hand
Like the trembling heart (the trembling heart) of a captive bird
That was there, that was there (that was there)
At my command, my love (my love)
And the first time (and the first time)
Ever I lay with you, I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy (I knew our joy)
Would fill the earth and last (and last) 'til the end of time, my love
That first time (that first time)
Ever I saw your-, your face
Your face, your face (your face)
When I saw your face
