2am through cigarette smoke
I told my friend I was 'bout to head home
Visa down, turned around and bumped into you
And back then, I didn't know your name
All I knew is that I had to stay
And all of a sudden you were the only one in the room
Time stood still all at once
All those neon stars lined up
You leaned in, felt that rush
Last call, first kiss, a little bit drunk
Who knew two straight tequilas on a debit card
Would wind us up right where we are
So here's to two strangers in the back of a bar
Taking a shot in the dark
A fifty-fifty wouldn't work out
We took a chance and look at us now
Let's throw one back for old time's sake
Feels like yesterday
Time stood still all at once
All those neon stars lined up
You leaned in, felt that rush
Last call, first kiss, a little bit drunk
Who knew two straight tequilas on a debit card
Would wind us up right where we are
So here's to two strangers in the back of a bar
Taking a shot in the dark
Like, who'd have thought a downtown
Saturday'd turn to the rest of my life
Yeah, I guess sometimes good things
Do happen after midnight
Time stood still all at once
All those neon stars lined up
You leaned in, felt that rush
Last call, first kiss, a little bit drunk
Who knew two straight tequilas on a debit card
Would wind us up right where we are
So here's to two strangers in the back of a bar
Taking a shot in the dark
