Let There Be Love

The lyrics express a cheerful wish for a life filled with people, pleasures, and small comforts. The speaker lists many things that make life enjoyable, but keeps returning to one essential request: love. The mood is playful and affectionate, with the repeated ending making that request feel especially sincere.

The list moves between romance and everyday delights: oysters, rain, spicy food, champagne, and birdsong. This mix suggests that love belongs not only to grand moments but also to ordinary pleasures. The wish for “someone to bless me” after a sneeze is a lighthearted image of kindness and companionship in daily life. Birds such as a lark and a dove may also suggest beauty or peace, though the lyrics do not explain them directly.

The song can be heard as a romantic declaration, since the speaker begins by wishing for “you” and “me.” But it can also express a broader hope for affection and human closeness. The list is humorous rather than deeply symbolic, so it may be best not to search every item for a hidden meaning. What matters most is the contrast between many enjoyable things and the one thing the speaker puts first: love.
