London Leatherboys

The lyrics describe a group of young people drawn together by a fast, rebellious nightlife. At first, their shared energy seems exciting: they ride through the city, turn up the power, and live intensely. But the mood changes when the noise ends. A girl’s tears and the later mention of a boy dying suggest that this way of life carries real danger and grief. The repeated “all together” can sound like solidarity, but also like people caught in the same risky pattern.

Leather clothing marks the group as a visible subculture, while “roaring” suggests both loud engines and forceful, uncontrolled energy. “Full speed ahead” implies rushing forward without pausing to consider the consequences. The phrase “nightmare’s pleasure” captures a contradiction: the thrill may feel enjoyable in the moment, yet it can turn frightening or painful. Likewise, “heroes die too fast” suggests that admiration and excitement do not protect anyone from harm.

The lyrics do not explain exactly what causes the boy’s death or what the group has done, so the story remains open. The song may be criticizing reckless behavior, mourning someone admired by the others, or doing both at once. Its repeated refrain keeps the group’s identity in focus, while the contrast between noisy freedom and painful loss makes that unity feel uneasy rather than simply celebratory.
