It was a lonely time as I remember
When I was forsaken by my closest friends
How alone I felt as the cards were dealt
It seemed my world was coming to an end
Beaten down and broken
A shadow of a man
Then evil entered my heart
Killing me with fiery darts
Until I fell into his fiendish hands
I'll winds come now and then
But the winds are gonna change
Don't run away; it's not too late
Come back where you belong
You can only run so long
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone
ย
So I started picking up the pieces
But I didn't know just how or where to begin
So I heaved a sigh, and I tried but I
Just couldn't put me back together again
I finally cried for Jesus
And he came upon the whispering wind
He calmed the clamoring seas
That raged and roared in me
And truly loved me when I needed a friend
Ill winds come now and then
But the winds are gonna change
The past is gone and I'm moving on
The winds cry out my name
I'll never be the same
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone
ย
The Lord saves the dying flames
ย
He shelters them from life's hurricanes
ย
Ill winds come now and then
But the winds are gonna change
Unlike before there's so much more
His love I can't explain
Is the wind calling your name?
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone.
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone.
ย
The winds of September are calling
Calling you back home (calling you back home)
The winds of September won't leave you alone.
