Lyrics meaning

The speaker describes moving through life at an extreme speed, so intense that other people notice and urge him to slow down. The repeated warning sounds both irritated and concerned. The lyrics move between the speakerโ€™s fast, almost out-of-control state and the voices telling him to stop. By the end, the warning returns without a clear resolution: he may still be rushing.

The barking creature seems to react only to the speaker, โ€œlike itโ€™s seen a ghost.โ€ This suggests that his unusual energy or behavior is startling, though the cause is left unclear. โ€œSparksโ€ can mean visible flashes, but they may also suggest excess energy or pressure building up. โ€œA thousand feet per secondโ€ is an exaggerated way to describe moving far too quickly, not necessarily a literal measurement.

The song may be read as a warning against living too fast, or as a portrait of someone whose intensity makes him seem strange to others. The word โ€œidiotโ€ can sound harsh, but repeated alongside โ€œslow down,โ€ it might also express familiar concern. The lyrics do not explain exactly what the speaker is doing or why he is overcharged, so these images can remain partly literal and partly metaphorical.
