Durch den Monsun

The speaker feels trapped in a room full of reminders of someone who is absent. As the weather worsens outside, waiting turns into action: the speaker decides to face a dangerous journey in the hope of reaching this person. The repeated promise that they will eventually walk together gives the song a movement from loneliness and uncertainty toward determination and hope.

The “monsoon” can be read as a powerful storm, but also as the hardship separating the speaker from the person they miss. Images such as the last candle going out and dark clouds gathering create a sense of isolation and trouble.
