They were men behind the scenes
But it wasn't always that way
A&M gave them their chance
And indeed they had their day
I guess it wasn't easy
But they had a lot of fun
They made the scene on TV
With a genie, a witch, and a nun
And I wonder what I'm doing tonight
Why I never seem to get things right
I'm digging through the dark dark past
Blinded by the LA lights
Boyce and Hart, Boyce and Hart
Together and apart
Hit makers from the start
Boyce and Hart, Boyce and Hart
They went to Teardrop City
And where the action was
They performed with Zsa Zsa Gabor
In Vegas just because
But I saw them at Flint Center
With Mickey Dee and Davy Jones
Soon they went their separate ways
Tommy made England his home
And I wonder what I'm doing tonight
I never seem to get things right
I'm digging through the dark dark past
Blinded by the LA lights
Boyce and Hart, Boyce and Hart
Songwriting is an art
They knew how to top the charts
Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart
Bobby came down to Conway
To hear us cut their song
Said Tommy couldn't make it down right now
He'd been away too long
'Cause he went to see Del Shannon
Back in 1994
He wanted to see Elvis
Hope he found what he was looking for
And I wonder what I'm doing tonight
I never seem to get things right
I'm digging through the dark dark past
Blinded by the LA lights
Boyce and Hart, Boyce and Hart
Together and apart
Hit makers from the start
Boyce and Hart, Boyce and Hart
Songwriting is an art
Blinded by the LA lights
They knew how to top the charts
Hit makers from the start
Tommy Boyce and Bobby Hart
