Lyrics
Greetings humans
People of Earth, you are highly evolved beings
You have come a long way
Since you first picked up tools, 3.3 million years ago
We watched from above
As you rose on two legs and wandered the Great Rift Valley
With opposable thumbs and axes of flint
We watched you harnessing fire
With self-awareness and a humour that accelerates
Every generation with the sudden spark of a brilliant idea
Farming leads to cities
Without hurting nature, hunt and gather
You develop language and art
Exploit surrounding resources, irrigating
Cisterns for water, giver of life
Ever-present music is bending you and evolving
Creating brain activity
Written language fills your ever-swelling libraries
You educate your young, enforcing empathy
Scientific method, philosophy, medicine
Discover laws of physics and mathematics
Harness electricity, engineering, computing
Splitting atoms and reaching interplanets
