Run Boy Run

The lyrics follow a boy who is urged to flee a world that seems hostile and eager to catch him. Running is presented not simply as fear or escape, but as a kind of victory and a necessary step toward a different future. The repeated promise of “tomorrow” gives the song hope, while the boy’s eventual adulthood feels distant: for now, survival and movement come first.

Several images suggest freedom and discovery. “Beauty lies behind the hills” makes the landscape beyond the boy’s current limits seem full of possibility. The sun guiding him offers a sign of direction or reassurance, while disappearing “in the trees” suggests finding shelter and slipping out of sight. Calling the race “a prophecy” implies that his flight may be part of a larger journey, though the lyrics do not explain exactly what that destiny is.

The song can be heard as a story about growing up under pressure, with “you’ll be a man” pointing toward a future identity the boy has not yet reached. “This world is not made for you” may describe a literal danger, or more broadly the feeling of not belonging in society. The urgent commands create a tense mood, but the repeated promise of another day keeps the ending open and hopeful rather than certain.
