Rockabilly Billy bought an engagement ring
Gave it to his girl and she didn't say a thing
Now he's getting worried 'cause he sold his guitar
Had to get a job, yeah, parking cars
At school he was a fool, they thought he was an idiot
Had a look in his eye and he used to laugh a lot
Said he couldn't take it, said he didn't care
Left and got a job pumping gas, oh yes
He don't get to see his old friends no more
Since he met that little girl on the dance floor
Next week he's getting married, gonna settle down
Gonna rent a place on the outskirts of town
Her mother thinks he's crazy
Her father does as well
Sent them on a honeymoon to a cheap hotel
Before he paid a deposit on an engagement ring
He used to think Carl Perkins was king
Used to be a wild boy, be out every night
Putting money in the jukebox and burning the light
Billy's girl Nancy, she's an usherette
Works a split shift but she don't forget
After work, Billy's waiting at the front door
They'll hug and kiss 'til their lips get sore
Her mother thinks he's crazy
Her father does as well
Sent them on a honeymoon to a cheap hotel
